During our long walk in the park, We put a piece of chicken jerky treat on this bench. It’s a very high-value treat for Kaiju.
We gave him about 3 minutes.
In the end, he decided that he’d rather not have the treat if it meant he had to grab it from the bench.
Oh well.
Akira has the same thing: he just freezes and shakes. We used to have trouble walking him in our neighbourhood because he would just freeze and try to go back home. He’s not destructive, hyperactive or anything he’s just always scared/anxious.
We bought these kibble because our homoeopathic vet recommended them to us. The two active elements are alpha-casozepine and Tryptophan. We had tried Zyklene a while back, it contains alpha casozepine, but it did not work out for us.
I think it’s new, maybe you could ask the question direcly to Royal Canin US?
By the way, I found this study about alpha-casozepine: http://www.zylkene.cz/downloads/zylkene_dog_selgian.pdf
That’s a good idea. I will do that. Thanks for all the great tips!!
Well Akira is now eating kibble that help him calm down and he’s back to being a normal dog. I’d never thought it would work but it seems it does. It’s called Calm Royal Canin, it’s sold by vets.
I got all excited and looked into it. It looks like this product isn’t available in the US… at least not yet. I’m wondering, though. Kaiju’s quite calm. When he is scared, he is not hyperactive. He just freezes and trembles. Do you think this stuff may still work?
